Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To hire a vehicle in Northern Ireland, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for drivers under 25. You must possess a valid full driving licence applicable to the vehicle category, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, valid identification and proof of your current address are required, along with payment details and a security deposit. Any further criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or at our Belfast office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are usually payable upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collection of your vehicle, a thorough inspection is required. Any pre-existing damage should be reported without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle must also be returned with the same fuel level as when it was picked up; refuelling fees will be applied if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may incur extra fees, so please inform us promptly if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You are liable for any parking tickets, traffic offences, or other charges incurred during your rental, in addition to an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every car rental. Comprehensive details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. There may be additional insurance options available to further limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, improper use, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance.
6. Changes and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise details, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of the vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities, including racing, rallying, or off-road driving. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Usage must align with the vehicle’s intended purpose, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Driving outside the agreed geographical area without prior authorization is also prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by Northern Irish law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Northern Ireland. Any disputes will be addressed by the courts of Northern Ireland.
Updates to Terms
We can update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
